Have you been feeling self conscious about your body lately? Feeling like you don’t measure up to every other person’s seemingly “perfect body” all over the web? Or maybe you’re witnessing it in someone’s life you really care about right now..
Every day we are bombarded daily with photographs of people from the media whether it be on social outlets like instagram and facebook, advertisements and magazines, or even online shopping.
And all seem to have one thing in common: every woman is about a size zero, with perfect hair, skin and curves. aka, apparently the “perfect body”
Well to be honest.. I am tired of the focus on imperfection. I am frustrated with what it is doing to thousands of girls and women’s self esteem. Basically, I’m over society.
Now you may be thinking, woah Sarah, you’re being a little harsh. And you know, maybe I am. But this is something I am so passionate about. It hits home. I was there once, and was on the way to literal death because of it (as you saw in my story video here).
And I want to share a personal story that shows just how destructive this focus on the “perfect body” can be.
I want to get the message out there to every single person that
I talked about in one of my last posts that comparison can lead to negative body image and destruction long term..but how can we NOT compare ourselves when magazines and advertisements are CONSTANTLY posting photos of only size zero, unrealistic, starved women?
