As we dive into 2020 let’s talk about those new years resolution goals
As the new year starts, many of you will begin working on those new years resolution goals. Goals are a great way to get motivated and take action towards bettering yourself. But what happens weeks or months down the road when the goal has been completed? You return to your old habits and complacency feeling unmotivated. This cycle may end in obtaining your goals for a little while but eventually you’ll be right back to where you started. I’m going to tell you how to ditch your goals this new year and instead work every day towards becoming the best version of yourself!

Are you tired of the endless cycle of getting frustrated with yourself, making goals only to become burnt out and unmotivated after returning to your old habits once the goals have been reached. Well friend I feel you!! Thats why this year I’m starting a movement that’ll break the endless cycle and help you start living a lifestyle of self growth!!
So whats a goal digger? Let’s say your goal for the new year is to lose 10 pounds, you diet, restrict from foods you love and exercise a lottt to lose those 10 pounds. But once you reach your goal you go back to your normal habits, feel unmotivated, and gain the weight back. This all in method will get you results but they’re not usually long term. So whats the alternative??
Goal Digger:
“I need to lose 10 pounds”
Action: Restriction, Excessive Exercising, Dieting
VS
Growth Digger:
“I want to grow in the area of health in my life” or “I want to take care of my body more”
Action: Drinking more water, Moving your body more, Eating more whole, unprocessed foods
See the difference?? When you’re a growth digger you’re constantly growing and continually working of the best version of yourself. The goals on the back burner such as losing weight may be reached at a slower pace but once they are reached the result is an overall lifestyle change!! This new focus is all about progress not perfection. The Goal Digger mindset is throwing all of your energy into short term goals, becoming burned out, retreating to old habits and then starting the cycle again. A Growth Digger’s mindset is focusing on the progress and growth you can make every single week. The mindset shift when you’re focused on growth is “Im working on becoming a better version of myself every single day”.
Don’t wait until the New Year to start deciding you want to change! There is no better time to start than right now!! I challenge you to start today! Brainstorm some areas in your life where you want to grow. Ask yourself…..How can I be a better friend? How can I be a better wife or mother? Once you’ve got some goals in mind, break down the goals into small every day steps. What is one thing you can do every day that will get you to your goal?
I want this to be a movement that spreads! Join me this new year as we recenter our focus onto growth. Hop onto instagram and tag me at @Sarahgracemeck and show me how you are going to adopt a mindset and heart of being a growth digger and not a goal digger!
