Ready to NOT give up on your health and fitness resolutions this year? Let’s do this! Thanks goes to those that allow Fresh Fit n Healthy to keep going. This post is sponsored by Zappos.
Hey friend, did you know 80% give up on their New Years Health and Fitness Resolutions, according to researchers?
Another statistic showed that only 9% said that they were successful in reaching their New Year goals. Why do we have this bad habit of setting these lofty goals and having high hopes for the New Year, only to give up on them all in a couple weeks or months? Why do we LOVE setting health and fitness resolutions, but then not actually carry them out to completion? I dont think its our fault.
I think we have really good intentions. And intentions are a part of the equation. But theres something even more important than intentions. ACTION. So heres 5 secrets to take ACTION, and NOT give up on your health and fitness resolutions this year.
5 Secrets for NOT Giving Up on Your Health and Fitness Resolutions
1. Set REALISTIC, CONCRETE Goals
Lose weight or get in shape, is NOT specific or concrete. Set goals that are measurable. And then work backwards. If you have vague goals, you’ll get vague results. And you’ll probably fall off your health and fitness resolutions. Create SPECIFIC goals, and you’ll have a MUCH better chance of actually hitting them! Not because it makes it easier, but because you’ll have a much easier time working backwards and creating a clear path TO them.
First set long term, 1 year goals. Then work backwards; set mini 6 month, 3 month, and 1 month goals as milestones to your big goal. Otherwise you’ll find yourself giving up because of feeling like you “aren’t getting anywhere”.
2. Treat Yourself to Gifts that SUPPORT Your Goals and Get You EXCITED
Whenever I set goals, I always treat myself to something that will get my that first bit of excitement to actually DO. Last year I signed up for a half
marathon as one of my health and fitness resolutions, and instantly went over on Zappos to order some new running shoes. Just recently I did the same thing! For some reason, new shoes always make me excited to get out and get MOVING. Plus, these shoes being out the old Gator in me with having the slight orange touch to them. But they come in other colors too 🙂
Lets also just talk about how Zappos is always so easy to order from and ships super quickly. Because as a gal who is NOT a shopper, it is a dream come true. I just ordered these ASICS on Zappos the other week, and they were at my door in 2 days. Ive been going on a walk or run or to the gym every day since in them. Extra note, If youre like me and need a good, supportive shoe, these ASICS are incredible. I have bad knee pain as a past D1 athlete if not wearing the right shoes, but these ASICS have been treating me (and my knees), so well!
3. Remember it is a PROCESS
This is a journey, not an overnight achievement. Your health and fitness resolutions WILL take time. There will be days of feeling SUPER FRUSTRATED. There will be days you want to give up because things arent moving as quickly as youd like. DONT. The only time you ever fail, is when you give up. Remember, this is going to take time! You didnt get to the place youre at now in one day or one week, and youre not going to to breakthrough in a week either! This is also why its SUPER important to set mini goals to reach your ultimate health and fitness resolutions. Otherwise you will feel youre working aimlessly until reaching that BIG goal.
4. Have a PLAN – Dont just hope
Nows the time to start planning. WHAT are your goals? WHAT are your barriers to those goals? HOW do you plan on reaching your health and fitness resolutions? WHAT tools/resources/help do you need to reach your health and fitness resolutions?
If one of your health and fitness resolutions involve running a 5k or half marathon, then youll probably need a running buddy or coach for support and guidance, a pair of good shoes (you can order them super quickly on Zappos like I do), some prep of nutritious meals and snacks to fuel you, and running apparel youre EXCITED about wearing and feel good in.
If your health and fitness resolutions involving losing 5% body fat and seeing that recomposition from fat to lean muscle, youll probably need a trainer to program your workouts, and dietitian to help you with nutrition and hitting your specific macronutrient goals, good gym shoes and clothes that again, you feel excited about, and a planner to really take time to schedule in when youll meal prep and get workouts in (in advance!).
5. FINANCIALLY INVEST
Do you know that the biggest source of commitment is financial commitment? Dont believe me? Compare two times in your life, one with when you got something for free, and one when you paid for it. Which one were you more committed to?
Think about if a trainer or dietitian friend told you they would give you a training/meal plan for free. Then think about if you PAID hundreds (or even thousands!) for a 6 month commitment to a trainer or dietitian. Honestly, which one would you be more committed to? You know the answer. Weve all downloaded our fair share of freebies online, only to let them sit in your download abyss and never get read and utilized. Reaching your health and fitness resolutions WILL take investing in YOU.
Want to know something? My biggest 2018 goal was to begin building a successful online business. And despite just feeling Im still at the foundation stages, Ive been able to net 6 figures this first full year of business. But want to know something? I could have NEVER done it without financial investment.
I was just adding it up yesterday, and considering all of 2018 coaching Ive gotten plus an investment that will be setting my 2019 up right for success, want to know how much Ive invested financially to SUCCEED? To reach MY goals? Over 30k.
Now Ive netted 6 figures, so it was WORTH the investment. But there are people who ask me, how did you do it?! Ive been working years to make my own nutrition/fitness business online happen and it hasnt come together. Well, many people are too scared to invest. They invest in other people but not themselves. They dont believe enough in THEIR WORTH to invest in the most important thing: THEMSELVES. If you have health and fitness goals, INVEST IN YOU. Im not just saying this because I have a bootcamp available right now starting in January, or because I work 1-1 with clients to help them create massive change in their bodies and overall lives.
I say this because I have taken my own advice, and SEE the truth in it. I TRIED downloading every freebie and buying every $100 or less resource to build my business. It wasnt until I invested in ME in a way that FREAKED ME OUT and made me think, I either just did something great or made the worst mistake ever, that changed happened.
Whether its new ASICS shoes, gym clothing, or an online coach that will get you going and stay COMMITTED to your health and fitness resolutions, please do one thing for me. Financially invest in YOU and YOUR GOALS, this year.
