I’m so excited to share my journey back into running today after finding the Yes.Fit app that will help be begin running some virtual races!
Okay, CONFESSION: I haven’t really run in about TEN YEARS.
But something you MAY not know about me depending how long you’ve been hanging out in our internet family?
I used to be a VERY competitive runner. See, I started my running journey freshman year of highschool, where I honestly HATED running but wanted to stay in shape for soccer season. So, I joined the cross country team.
Butttt then I somehow fell in love and the rest was history! I began training hard, went on to become the Florida Cross Country State Champion (and top 10 in many track events throughout the 4 years), and signed with the University of Florida’s D1 Cross Country team!
So there is my 6-ish year running career in a nutshell.
See, I ended up leaving the team my sophomore year of college because it got to be way too much on me and I just wasn’t enjoying it anymore.
And I walked away SO burnt out, I totally stopped running for awhile.
And by awhile, I mean ABOUT TEN YEARS.
But now that I’ve moved to the 30A area of FL where I get to walk the beaches every morning, I can’t help but to think I kinda want to get back into running again! It would be so fun to do some beach runs. So I started trying to look for some kind of race I could sign up for because let’s be honest, I need SOME kind of motivating goal to work toward or else I won’t be consistent. As a past competitor, I need a goal or it just won’t work for me.
Problem is, there really aren’t any local or in-person races going on with all things COVID right now.
Good news is, I found YES.FIT APP!!
What is Yes.Fit?
This app was a GAME CHANGER because it is so easy to navigate, allows me to sign up for virtual races and long my runs, and even gives me medals when I finish the race! And I always love a good medal. The coolest thing is their races have themes to them and so I can pick to “race around Lake Tahoe” or even around places in different countries!
Right now I’m finishing one up in London, and then will be starting one that goes around Lake Tahoe!
And no, I don’t run all 40 miles at once. I’m not THAT talented when just getting back into running! But you log runs and they can all add up together to finish the race! So I’m setting a goal to run at least 1 mile daily of my 4 mile beach walk, to complete these races little by little. And then maybe I’ll work up to longer runs eventually as I get back into it 🙂

Create a username/account
Browse through the virtual races available and select which one you’d like
Sign up and begin logging runs toward the end goal of that race
Once finishing, get a medal!!
They also have a private community where you can gain alllll the extra support and connect with other Yes.Fit members! YAY!
