Living a healthy lifestyle and loving food should be simple. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t a one size fits all kinda deal. In this weeks blog post I talk with my good friend Jasmine Shea today about how she shares her love of food with others, and simplifies living a healthy lifestyle by empowering families with balanced recipes, cook books, and more. Living a healthy lifestyle looks different for everyone. Eating to nourish your body and feel your best can be done without all the rules and diets. It’s all about creating a lifestyle based on habits which work for you and are sustainable.
Break up with dieting and learn to live a healthy lifestyle without rules! Eating healthy isn’t all about portion sizes and calorie counting. It’s about fueling your body with foods that make you feel good and energized. A healthy lifestyle is eating a cookie when you want to because its about balance and moderation not restriction. Jasmine shares her tips with us as we talk all about living a healthy lifestyle without all the complications.

Notes from the Podcast:
Making Small Changes
We’ve all said “I’m going to eat healthy this month” or “I’m going to start exercising this year” We then try to take on huge changes such as going to the gym 5x a week or eating rice and broccoli or a salad for every meal. A week or two passes and we give up on our goal and go back to our regular routine. This ongoing cycle is exhausting but it doesn’t have to be!!! Instead of focusing on the bigger picture and throwing yourself in headfirst think small!! Think of one small change you can make today that will get you closer to the goal. Maybe it’s making one meal a little healthier or walking for 10 extra minutes.
You may feel silly starting with such a tiny step but the goal is to find little changes that are sustainable. Burning yourself out by diving in headfirst will only hinder you from reaching your goal in the long run. But Implementing little changes everyday will help you reach you not only reach your goal but create a healthy lifestyle change. When you’re living a healthy lifestyle It’s about progress not perfection! I challenge you this week to take 5 minutes and implement one thing you can do differently to reach your goal.
Finding Your Why
Finding your why is key for creating and living healthy healthy lifestyle. Is your goal to lose weight? Or is your goal to have a healthier, stronger body? If your goal is to lose weight, then dig a little deeper. Why do you want to lose weight? Is it to develop confidence or happiness? If you’re not happy 10 pounds heavier than you wont be happier 10 pounds lighter. The confidence and happiness that you seek are already in you!! When finding your why we can have goals which can result in a more healthy body. For example eating healthier as a result will probably lead to weight loss but it should never be the main purpose of your life. But weight loss should never be the main focus or priority.
Simplifying Food
Jasmines business is built on sharing her love of food with others. You too can love food but do it in a way that honors your body. Jasmines company Your Dinner Is Planned simplifies food by offering healthy balanced recipes, along with shopping tips and more to aid someone in living a healthy lifestyle. I share her mission to uncomplicate “good” or “bad” foods switching instead to eating in a way that nourishes your body with what makes you feel good and is sustainable in the long run.
Here are some tips on how you can simplify your own relationship with food!
- Be more mindful when you eat – How hungry are you? Are you full?
- Focus less on calories and portion sizes and more on what foods make you feel good and energized.
- Becoming more aware of negative emotion. What is your body trying to tell you?
- Ditch the “good food” “bad food” mindset, instead eat to feed good and honor your body.
Jasmines Tips for Shopping On A Budget, Picky Eaters, And More!
- Choose whatever produce is on sale and find a healthy fun recipe for it.
- Save yourself time by categorizing your grocery lists. For example make headings and group all foods that are found in the same place together such as all produce.
- Before grocery shopping check your pantry for items you may already have!
- Have picky eaters? If you’re having trouble getting your little ones to eat new foods, try having them research the specific food. Educating them not only empowers them but gets them involved in the cooking process making it fun for them and more likely to try the food.
- Batch cook your proteins and carbs in bulk!!
- Stuck with what to make for dinner? Throw some noodles, a protein and cheese together for a super tasty easy meal.
