My sample wedding workout plan, to show how I’m sweating for the wedding and getting in my best shape. Thanks goes to Nike for partnering with me on this post, and their One Luxe Tights for allowing me to move with comfort and style!
Okay so I’m a BIG believer in balance and not falling into fad diets or programs, so I don’t want you to think this “wedding workout plan” is some crazy intense workout schedule that isn’t sustainable or anything. But I know we all have events and things we want to “feel our best” for. And then we all have seasons where life gets the best of us and we fall off a bit, just maintaining the bare minimum. (yay you’re human!!). Which is why I DID want to share exactly what I’m doing right now as it is just about 10 weeks until my wedding, to feel my very best!!
And let’s be honest, you gotta have fun in the process by treating yourself to some CUTE workout clothes like these Nike One Luxe Tights! Can we just quickly chat about them?! They aren’t only comfy and feel like you aren’t even wearing anything, but they are extremely tight, which makes the tights not only so flattering on your body, but also great to workout in! Which is why I wear them not only working out, but my off days and while working too. I clearly need them in all the colors. Just fyi, they come in plum dust, moss, dusty peach, black and el dorado! I’m trying to choose which to get next!
But welcome to my life actually: comfy workout clothes like these Nike One Luxe Tights at all times, whether working out or working from home, or simply hanging out. Did I just workout or have I been sitting on my computer all day working… the world will never know 🙂
Wedding Workout Plan: How to ACTUALLY Stay Consistent
Before getting into the WORKOUTS, let’s talk about how to ACTUALLY make them happen. Wear workout clothes like these Nike One Luxe Tight wherever you go. Why? Because if you’re anything like me, you’re much more likely to workout if you’re already dressed for the occasion. And thankfully these One Luxe Tights aren’t just great fitting for working out in, but cute enough to be wearing out as you run errands around town!
The other tip? Take Sunday to schedule the workouts in. These are YOUR appointments to YOU. Just like any important doctor appointment, take time to schedule what workouts and when you will do them into your calendar, before the week even starts!
But first step: grab a pair of these Nike One Luxe Tights that are also cute enough to wear around town / comfy enough to work around the home in, but are also fitting for actually working out in, so that you set yourself up for success to actually workout! One thing I’ve realized is that we can have all the intentions we want, but without implementation, nothing great happens. Then schedule it in!
Ok let’s get to my wedding workout plan. I’m not only sharing the breakdown, but also TWO FULL WORKOUTS! Let’s do this!
My Wedding Workout Plan Breakdown
Planning In Your Wedding Workout Plan
With my busy schedule of running a business, planning a wedding, and simply investing time and energy into the man I’ll soon be married to (along with premarital counseling to help us!), I DON’T have a ton of free time. But that’s why I want to express how important it is to PLAN. Plan out on Sunday exactly how many workouts you’ll commit to, what they will be, and then add them to your phone calendar like you would ANY doctors appointment.
These are your appointments and commitments to yourself. And those are the most important commitments! Did I mention that I live in workout clothes? Even when just working during the week/planning my workouts on my Sunday, I’m in them. Something my fiance had to get used to, who as a dentist, is always wearing professional clothes… Lucky me! Work from home life 🙂 The key, as I mentioned earlier, is getting comfy ones like these Nike One Luxe Tights I’m wearing here.
Oh and another thing to look for in a tight you’re going to workout in: fabric that ISN’T going to show things you don’t want them showing! These Nike One Luxe Tight have opaque fabric (YAY), and are also sweat-wicking (meaning that they pull the moisture away from your body and to the top so it can evaporate, instead of say cotton, that will soak in the moisture and keep it). This is the recipe for success to keep you dry and comfortable!!
My General Wedding Workout Plan Schedule:
Every Sunday I sit down and plan out my workouts (and actually schedule them into my calendar too!), but typically I shoot for:
- 2 longer cardio days
- 2 HIIT/Strength days with a little cardio built in
- and then 1 “fun day”, which typically includes running to the gym with my fiance and doing something with him there, and then walking home, as we chat about life and all the things going on
Wedding Workout Plan TIP
You want to hit every body part twice a week. So if you’re only doing 2 strength sessions a week, then you want them both to be total body workouts. This is why I typically do total body ones, as I usually only do 2-3 strength workouts a week. Now if you’re doing 4-6, that’s when you can begin splitting into certain body parts or upper/lower.
I also suggest getting in cardiovascular movement whether an actual planned cardio workout like a cycle class/run, or just a 3-4 mile walk, almost every day. Depending on your goals and current status, will decide how many planned cardio sessions you need to incorporate. But no matter what, you want to get that body moving throughout your day too! So even on my off days, I try to hit my step goals 🙂 It’s good for long-term health, and just getting that blood flowing early in your day will help ya make better decisions the rest of your day!
And on those planned cardio days, make sure they count and you’re sweating it out, not just lollygagging 😉 Which is why having opaque, sweat-wicking fabric is a must. You want to be sweating… just not showing things or being uncomfortable because of it!
Stop and think, how does this apply to you? With your lifestyle, free time, and considering what’s realistic for you to maintain?
It’s also important to find a “rhythm” that works for you and feels good (and sustainable!).
Here’s the rhythm for my wedding workout plan I found lately that I’ve been LOVING:
- Monday: HIIT/Strength Workout at home or at gym on my own
- Tuesday: mid-morning cycle class with my favorite instructor that makes it fun AND kills me 🙂
- Wednesday: afternoon workout at gym with fiance when he gets off work (or if we’re both tired, just a quick run/long walk)
- Thursday: mid-morning cycle class with the same instructor again 🙂
- Friday: open for if I have time to do something/am in town, otherwise I just get a long walk in early in the morning!
- Saturday: run to gym with fiance (2mi), do some strength work on my own, and then walk home with my fiance with pit stops along the way (like my favorite coffee shop!)
(my example cycle class feedback)
The HIIT/Strength Workouts for My Wedding Workout Plan
Okay so I told you I wouldn’t just share the general schedule, but also two full workouts! I’m sharing one at-home HIIT that I did last Monday, and then one strength workout I did at the gym last Wednesday, to give you a full picture of what my REAL wedding workout plan looks like outside of my 45 minute cycle classes!
Here’s the two workouts I got in last week, outside of my 2 cycle classes and my saturday gym routine with my fiance! Both are total body, since you want to hit all body parts 2x/week minimum. So for instance, you don’t want to do just a “back and bicep workout” if you are only doing strength 2x/week. That’s for if you’re working out 4-7x/week, then you can split up body parts!
At Home HIIT Workout
- 1 mile run warm-up (can substitute any kind of cardio like jump roping or machine or jumping jacks) + my Dynamic Stretching
- Then I completed as many rounds as possible of this within a 20 minute time frame
- 20 squat jumps
- 20 side lunges (10 each side)
- 10 push-ups
- 10 burpees
- 20 split squats (I used a park bench – 10 each side)
- 10 dips (Used a park bench again)
- 10 jump lunges
- 10 v-ups
- 1 minute plank
- No more than 30 sec rest before starting again!
- How many rounds can you do?! Let me know on my instagram what you got to!
Gym Strength Workout for My Wedding Workout Plan
- 10-15 minutes on elliptical or 1 mile run on treadmill
- Superset Strength Time! Each pair of exercises perform right after the other without taking a break, and then repeat for set 2-3. Minimal rest until you get to the next superset. Then move on to next superset. Supersets are for efficiency so you get in a great sweat sesh without taking hours, due to not just doing 1 exercise, and then sitting around between sets. Get a pair of tight-fitting, sweat-wicking tight, and let’s do it!

- 20 DB walking lunges
- 20 sumo squats with DB or KB (kettlebell)
- 3 sets total
