On this week’s episode of real solutions, I have the privilege of talking and interviewing with a past nutrition coaching client of mine, Sylvia. Sylvia opens up about her past history of dieting and how her life has changed since doing one-on-one nutrition coaching. Sylvia tried a bunch of diets for over ten years which only resulted in gaining any weight back she had lost and continuing to have a bad relationship with herself and food. Once she started nutrition coaching, she found her why and changed her life in the process!
Nutrition coaching is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change.
Learning to feel empowered by changing the way you view food, working out, and yourself.

A Few Important Points From The Episode
Finding your Why
What is your why? Why do you want to lose weight? A diet doesn’t fix the inner problem with food. Finding your why is so much deeper than just to look a certain way. Sylvia discovers her why as “I want to be healthy” “I want to love myself” “ I want to see myself as an athlete”. Finding your own why is how you shift that mindset on how we look at health and fitness. Shifting from I have to eat this, or I need to work out to burn calories, to this makes me feel my best and I do this because it strengthens and empowers me. Not because I’m going to feel deprived for a short term to get some sort of quick physical results. Once you find your why everything changes- not only for yourself but for the people around you. Once you love yourself, truly, you can love and help others even more.
Losing food guilt
“When it’s a lifestyle, it’s a lifelong journey.”
Clients learn to be proud of themselves and stop being so hard on themselves. Becoming educated on nutrition and how to properly fuel yourself is so important when learning to let go of food guilt. When it’s a lifestyle one bad day will not ruin you. Clients learn to let go of bad food and bad days. Learning that there is no “good” or “bad” food is an important part of the process. There is always a rest button, you will learn to become empowered as you can always move on and do better!
“Bridge the gap between the strict dieting world and the intuitive eating.”
Nutrition coaching teaches structure and guidance in the nutrition space. One you are educated and have a firm foundation and a nutrition base you can listen to your body and know when you whether you under or over ate. You will become empowered and enabled to listen to your body in a better way. Through nutrition coaching clients become educated and learn to feel confident in their choices. One-on-one nutrition coaching is not only a connection to a Dietitian but also a life coach. This program is adaptable to what works best for each individual through all seasons of life. Clients are taught the tools and knowledge to succeed and continue growing in a healthy lifestyle. Some tools for success are setting goals and dates with themselves, being held accountable, having a morning/night routine, and journaling.
