A savory peanut protein bread recipe to help you satisfy that bread craving in a more nutritious, satisfying way.
I make a lot of high protein recipes, typically using protein powders as my source to accomplish that, and they usually turned out pretty good! But ever since my sugar detox, I realized just how many artificial ingredients and sugars there are in most protein powders, yikes! Don’t get me wrong- I still drink my beloved shakes most mornings because 1) it’s part of my daily 3-step vitamin supplement in the morning, and 2) it’s just been a favorite to start my day with that fits my busy life! It’s just about making sure you’re choosing one that’s relatively clean and doesn’t have a ton of ingredients you can’t pronounce.
As for this Protein Bread recipe…
I wanted a bread higher in protein, but didn’t want to use protein powders. I realized my peanut flour was very high in protein, (16 grams for every 1/4 cup!) so I knew that was the flour I would use to make this amazing peanut protein bread. Plus, who doesn’t like the slight taste of peanut butter in their foods? I know I usually add nut butter on top of my breads anyways! But I didn’t want to make this a sweet bread. I wanted this to be more of a bread I could use for savory meals and snacks. Which meant I knew I couldn’t use all peanut flour.
So I decided to do some peanut powder, and some whey! You have to be careful when baking with whey, because it dries out VERY easily, so you almost have to take out slightly before you normally would. But when you get it right, you have a result like this. A savory and protein packed peanut protein bread!
