I know it’s been a few days now since the whole hype about Starbucks coming out with their plain red holiday cup began. But with just getting the time to read up on it more myself, I felt the need to voice my thoughts as a christian on this all.
If you have no idea what I’m referring to..
An American evangelist, Feurstein, outraged that Starbucks made their holiday cup plain red instead of having a christmas design on it, claiming there was a “war on Christmas” and Starbucks was trying to remove Christ from Christmas. He told the employee making his drink that his name was “Merry Christmas” so that his cup would read “Merry Christmas.” He later says “Guess what, Starbucks? Just to offend you, I made sure to wear my Jesus Christ shirt into your store, and, since you hate the 2nd Amendment, I even carried my gun!” Three days after the initial post of the video, it has over 130,000 likes and 380,000 shares. Feuerstein has started a #MerryChristmasStarbucks campaign in which he urges other Christians to post pictures of themselves performing the same prank in an effort to stick it to Starbucks and keep “CHRIST” in Christmas.
There is more than one problem with this all, and I will explain all my thoughts in the video below..But I have to say, it is SO frustrating to see someone who calls onhealthy phentermine himself a Christian, act like this.
There is NO reason that as a christian, we should feel “persecuted” by this or cause an outrage about Starbucks choosing a minimalist design for their holiday cup versus one with snowflakes or a snowman on it like years past.
People that cause an outrage on topics like this, are the reason why when I say I’m a Christian..people automatically think I’m judging them..
That I hate them for not believing what I do..
That I’m close minded and unloving..
As Christians, we should be loving and showing genuine care to all, not getting upset over a coffee cup.
I do want to share a blog post though from Nate Lake, a christian man, that I refer to a lot in the video below because I think it is amazingly written: WHY #MERRYCHRISTMASSTARBUCKS IS EVERYTHING WRONG WITH AMERICAN CHRISTIANITY
WWJD?? I’m pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t walk into a starbucks, cause a scene, and make a video to brag about winning this invisible “war on Christmas”..Oh, and I’m 100% certain He also wouldn’t then proceed to attempt to boycott the company responsible for removing snowflakes from their holiday cup design..
But despite your beliefs on anything, I pray that this one man and those that back him up, do not give you a false portrait of who a Christian is or what Christianity is all about.
