Interested in becoming a dietitian entrepreneur or fitness entrepreneur as a health professional? Tips, Lessons, Failures, and Successes – I’m sharing my own dietitian entrepreneurial journey here.
Crazy to think how much has changed since PART ONE of this dietitian entrepreneur series, that I wrote just one year ago (fell off updating often like I meant to)!

This ebook on the Top 10 Ways to Make Money Online as a nutrition entrepreneur!
If you want a laugh about where I was at (newbie) or want to see just how far I’ve come, go read that post and then come back to this one 🙂
But MAN, the past 12 months has been SUCH a growing process as a dietitian entrepreneur. And if you want to continue following my journey and learning what I WISHED I would have known…

Since last year’s dietitian entrepreneur part 1 post, I have:
- passed my RD exam (tips how I did it in 5 days here)
- launched two different online courses
- published a physical 12 week fitness journal alongside of my past book on my story I already had
- created the Fresh Fit n Healthy Academy which is a 1-1 coaching program where I help people worldwide reach their fitness and health goals through an individualized meal plan, nutrition strategy, and training program
- invested thousands of dollars myself in business coaching/programs to only continue to grow (over 20k – which something I’ve learned, you have to invest to grow!) Even though most of my investments were a learning process of what is NOT a good program unfortunately.
- on the road to way overshooting my 100k/year goal I had starting out in September as I began my business as a dietitian (and WAY outdoing where I was just a year ago at 1-2k/month!)
- Have had an intern here and there to help throughout the last 9 months, and now have 3 interns for the summer who are in the works of some EXCITING things for everyone out there!
- LEARNED AND BEEN STRETCHED MORE THIS PAST YEAR THAN I EVER HAVE IN SCHOOL
Disclaimer: It requires hard work. And at times… I ALMOST WENT INSANE.
All those slimy sales tactics of “work from anywhere” or “only work for a few hours a day and have a 6 figure biz…are LIES. It WILL take you grinding it out for awhile before you can begin automating certain aspects and hiring on people to make life a little more manageable for you. For almost all of Fall in 2017, I was waking up to get a workout in at about 530am every day, and working from about 8am right after my workout and quiet time until sometimes about midnight.
BUT I am SO incredibly pumped to see what my future holds, because God has already done more than I could ever ask for or imagine in this first year of business.
If there is ANY tip I can give you before going into all the softwares and tools I use as a dietitian entrepreneur, it’s to TAKE THE LEAP. I can’t tell you how many people told me I was dumb for “not getting a real job” out of school. I was told to get a real dietitian job and then try to do this whole entrepreneurial thing on the side.
Yet I went against the voices, against everyone telling me it was silly… and took the leap. And I encourage you to tune out the voices too.
Here is a break down of where I was a year ago, to where I am now as a dietitian entrepreneur
- Income:
- June 2017: 1-2k/month
- Now (June 2018): way overshooting the goal of “just hitting the 6 figure mark” annually – crazy to think I thought that was SO impossible to do just a year ago 🙂 And I even traveled all last month and was only working from my laptop as I traveled to Miami, Naples, Tampa, Bahamas, and Turks and Caicos!
- BIGGEST game changer was adding in my 1-1 clients worldwide through my Fresh Fit n Healthy Coaching Academy
- I also launched both an online course and a physical 12 week fitness journal the last 6 months!
- Softwares I haven’t changed:
- MailChimp: email campaign software (even though Infusion Soft is what a lot use and I’m tempted to switch over)
- Bluehost: website host
- Software/Program Changes/Additions:
- Funnels/Opt In Pages: I switched from Lead Pages to Click Funnels (more explanation on this in video — but highly recommended to be on Clickfunnels even if just starting out so you don’t have to make the huge transition later like I just did)
- Course Membership Site: Now building on Clickfunnels alongside of my funnels and pages
- Purchased webinar software to run webinars: Webinar Jam is what I use and love because of how simple it is and you can run live ones (which are always the most fun for me, or use their EverWebinar for automated webinars)
- Evolution Nutrition: meal planning software
- Trainerize: created my own fitness app through them and now have all my 1-1 clients on there and logging the workouts I write up for them!
- Focuses:
- In the last post, I said how I was also going to partner with a human performance center to be a consulting dietitian — but quickly my own business grew faster than I imagined and I stepped away from that so I could focus solely on my own business.
- The past 9 months, I’ve had to focus A LOT on the business side of things (something that does NOT come natural to me), and content creation had to get put on the back-burner even though I did a lot of it still. So now that I’m getting things going, I want to get back to a focus on consistent content, especially here on my blog and on my youtube channel, since Instagram I have done a pretty good job about keeping up with (YAY for hitting 100k!)
- I went into this past Fall of just a focusing on building a nutrition coaching business, but after having so many dietitian reach out, I now also offer business coaching, and coach other health professionals to take their business online! It’s everything I wished I could have had coming out of school, because I struggled through knowing everything about nutrition, but NOTHING about business, sales, or marketing!
- Goals:
- June 2017 Goals Review (taken from part 1 blog post):
- Continue partnering long-term with a few brands (2017 I am partnered with Rockin Refuel and NowFoods)
- Consistent content on youtube/video interviews and turn videos into audio for podcast
- Create an Online Course
- I’d love to get some speaking gigs in the future, as I love public speaking weirdly!
- More books ( already published one!)
- Current Goals:
- Start getting so much free content out there for everyone that you can’t NOT see it 🙂
- Still continue the partnerships, as I am still working with Rockin Protein (switched their name from Rockin Refuel) and NowFoods long term along with other brands short term that align with my brand and I truly believe in (EMPHASIS on that last part – I still say no to about 99% of companies that reach out to me)
- STILL wanting to start a podcast (come on SG! Ugh so little time to do everything)
- Woo, I created an online course, so conquered that one!
- Got a few speaking gigs, and hoping to continue that, as it’s my real passion.
- Published my fitness journal and about to release it to the public as I’m ready to start shipping them out 🙂
- Still want to publish a NYT Best Seller by the time I’m 30!
- Grow my business coaching and help even MORE dietitian impact people worldwide (so we can stop all this nutrition noise out there of coaches who don’t know what they’re talking about)
- June 2017 Goals Review (taken from part 1 blog post):
- Things I’ve implemented outside of the above this past year to really change things:
- Start listening to my audience and what they are asking for, versus what I think they want
- TALK to my audience – via DMs, emails, comments
- Engage, engage, engage!
- Now help sell an all inclusive daily vitamin pack + supplements through Thrive and some that fuel my daily grind with
- If you are interested in becoming a promoter or customer of either Thrive for your daily supplements (a lot of my 1-1 clients LOVE this) or for family friendly protein snacks, just send me an email to FreshFitnHealthy@gmail.com!
So hope this helps give you an update where I am!
