You’re about to be surrounded by tons of treats, and you want to stay on track. Here’s 15 healthy halloween candy alternatives to do just that.
Now as a disclaimer, I’m a big believer in letting yourself have 1 or 2 pieces of the real stuff. Living a healthy life doesn’t mean you have to completely deprive yourself. But I also know when there is a TON of Halloween candy laying around at home and at work, it’s hard to just have 1. So whether its before Halloween, during Halloween, or after Halloween when there is leftover candy, here are my top 10 favorite healthy Halloween candy alternatives to help you satisfy that sweet tooth while the kids are munching down on their candy.
Here’s My Top Healthy Halloween Candy Alternatives and my Fall Flavor Favorites
Halloween Yogurt Bark
Yogurt Bark is one of my all time favorites and keep it YEAR round in my freezer for when I have a sweet tooth. Or when I want ice cream for breakfast (just happened yesterday but I’ll just blame my time of the month for that).
This recipe is for the basic yogurt bark base and toppings I love adding on top, but imagine all the possibilities and make this your own creative Halloween styled bark! Maybe throw some orange sprinkles, or drizzle some low sugar chocolate syrup, or mix in some canned pumpkin and cinnamon, to make it really festive! This linked recipe also uses Dairy Free yogurt, but feel free to use one of my newest favorites, Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla, or any other Greek yogurt of choice.
Healthy Reeses Cups
Need I say more? I made these “uh-oh reeses” after those popular uh-oh oreos. The peanut butter and chocolate layers are switch, adding more peanut butter. Yet, it’s in a healthier way. How? Click here to check them out.
Frozen Grapes
This might sound SUPER weird. But frozen grapes are actually delicious. And it prevents you from overeating if you’re anything like me that will eat a whole bag.
Want to really make them festive as a healthy Halloween candy alternative? Place grapes in large resealable plastic bag. Add dry gelatin mix of desired flavor. Close bag, then shake gently to evenly coat grapes with gelatin mix. Spread grapes onto rimmed baking sheet. Freeze 2 hours or until frozen. It’s like a sweet or sour (depending on the flavor you choose) Halloween candy alternative!
Double Chocolate Protein Ice Cream
I am a HUGE ice cream connoisseur. I actively try making healthier alternatives often, so I can have ice cream every day. This was one of those active attempts, and boy was it delicious! I also have a pumpkin frozen yogurt recipe on here too if you’re looking for a fall flavor 🙂
Chocolate Covered Cookie Dough Truffles or without covering in chocolate by just eating it by the spoon [Cookie Dough Dip]
It’s funny how I made this cookie dough WAY back in the day, before “sweet hummus” brands came out in stores. Now it’s common to think of chickpeas as desserts, but instead of spending $7 on a container at the store, make your own here!
Want to go the extra mile and make a healthy dessert for a get together? Use the cookie dough dip above to make my cookie dough truffles dipped in chocolate! They were a family favorite in my house.
Chocolate Chip Mugcake
Talking about chickpea desserts and chocolate chip cookie flavor, have you tried this mugcake? Use some of the leftover chocolate chip cookie dip above to make this delicious DIY cake in a mug. Mmmmm.
DIY Dark Chocolate Crisp Bars
Along with ice cream, plain chocolate is my other favorite thing (and weakness). I especially love those Crunch bars, because I’m all about the crunchy texture. Well one day I decided to retire those crunch bars and make my own healthier bars. How do I make them crispy? Check it out right here.
GF Peanut Butter Cookies (PB Blossoms)
Minimal ingredients. Same peanut butter cookie flavor of those you used to devour as a kid. Enough said.
Black Bean Brownie Bites
Coming back your way with bean desserts, because these brownies are delicious! You would never know they were made of black beans. I brought them into my crossfit gym back in those days, so it’s not just my opinion 🙂 My older brothers also always ask for those “bean brownies”, after I tricked them into thinking they were normal ones. Ready to jump on the bean dessert wagon? Click here. And if you don’t want to bake them into brownies, try the brownie dip right here.
Sweet Potato Swirl Brownies
These really add the fall or Halloween feel with the sweetpotato mixture swirled in! A healthier halloween candy alternative and swap for those cream cheese packed brownies!
Sweet and Salty Tortilla Chips with my Whipped Pumpkin Dip or my Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dip
Hands down one of my favorite recipes. I STILL make this about every 2 weeks because thankfully I recently got engaged to another pumpkin lover. So, we make this every couple weeks to satisfy those pumpkin cravings. Try it yourself and I’m sure it’ll become a staple for you too.
Pumpkin Protein Doughnuts
What? Did I say healthy donuts? YES. Yes I did. My friend GiGi has a super strict diet due to past health issues, and I wanted her to still enjoy a pumpkin dessert too! So I went out trying to make something that didn’t include the list of things she couldn’t have. Friends, it wasn’t easy but I finally did it. Welcome my Pumpkin Protein Doughnuts to the world. Or Donuts? I’m not sure which way is the accurate spelling!
High Protein Pumpkin Bread and Muffins
Let’s be honest, as a pumpkin lover I couldn’t NOT have a healthy pumpkin bread recipe. This one uses protein to pump it up with nutrition and leave you feeling satisfied. Ready to make it? Head here.
Pumpkin Gingerbread Mousse Parfaits
When you combine my whipped pumpkin “pudding” and DIY paleo gingerbread cookies, amazing things happen friends. If you don’t believe so, head here and make this. Then get back to me 🙂
Almond Joy Protein Bites
[ + 3 tips for curbing holiday cravings]
If I’m honest, I’m a bigger fan of Mounds that Almond Joys. But that’s just because I’m a dark chocolate fan. Anyways, whether you like mounds or like almond joys, you won’t be sorry after making these chocolate coconut packed bites. They’ll take the edge off your cravings in a healthy way.
